Did you ever have someone who made you a promise? I remember growing up and just starting to tell people that I promised I would do something or I promise that this is what I heard. There was an emphasis on keeping my word. As we grow up, we have others who make promises to us. Sometimes, they deliver on their promise. However, I can remember a few times when what someone promised never took place. As a result, the person who doesn’t keep their promise devalues their own word. We probably have all known the disappointment when a promise was broken. When it comes to God, he has the power and ability to make promises and keep them. He has never failed on a single promise that he has made. Jesus stated as recorded in Matthew 26:64, “Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.” He has made a promise that He will return. Tonight, I have “Good News: He Will Keep His Promise.” I would like for us to consider from 2 Peter 3:1-13: 1) The Promise of the Lord, 1-7 2) The Patience of the Lord, 8-10 3) The Preparation to Meet the Lord (11-13). |
