The two witnesses will be saved during the first half of the Tribulation, enabled, and empowered by God for ministry. In fact they will essentially be untouchable and invincible throughout their ministry. When their work assignment is done the protective hand of God will be removed, and their enemies will seemingly prevail.
"The Beast" comes on the scene with the first of thirty-six references. “The Beast” is the anti-Christ who is a satanically empowered demonic being. Amazingly, the world will fall in worship of this individual who is the visible manifestation of Satan on the earth. It is he who will murder the two witnesses on a street in Jerusalem where their bodies will be left lying for three and one-half days, one day for each year of their ministry. This will be the only time of rejoicing on the earth, during the Tribulation, by the earth-dwellers as they celebrate their deaths. But after those days of rejoicing and celebration, there will be a dramatic display of God's power. The two witnesses will be resurrected and taken up to heaven before the eyes of their enemies. At the same time, we are told God will shake the city with a great earthquake.
Such animosity in varying degrees is bore by believers in the world today, especially those who are boldly proclaiming the true gospel message. Likewise, there is also the same empowering for ministry, protection during our divinely given work assignment, and hope of the resurrection to be with the Lord!
