The history of man is the story of the revelation of God. The first two chapters of Genesis are all mankind knows of a world where things were good and right. The rest of man's history is full of sin, sorrow, pain, wars, hatred, evil of all kinds, and the death of everything that ever lived. Through all that sad and tragic story runs the thread of God's reaching out and revealing himself to man, and offering hope for redemption and deliverance from all that sin had wrought in the world. God revealed himself through angels and prophets and supernatural events. God revealed himself through the history of Israel and all his dealings with that nation of people that He chose to be his people, so the rest of the world could see that there is a God in heaven, and that the universe is not ruled by the devils the pagans call their "gods." God revealed himself through the written Word of God. And finally, God revealed himself in his Son, who came to this world, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for the sin of man, and rose from the dead. Jesus Christ is the final revelation of God to mankind until He comes to judge the earth.
