You need to know that Melchizedek in Genesis 14 is God in the flesh. And then you have Him appearing in the flesh again in Genesis 19. So, along with those chapters that are in between, you have what our pastor calls, a Melchizedek sandwich. And that's where we find ourselves today, because we're learning from Genesis 15. And Genesis 15 is defined as The Day of Christ.
We have a letter from Mark, and he asks, Wouldn't it be easier if God just laid it out for us, one, two, three, four. God's spirit formed each and every part of us, and he want's us to know the parts of Scripture. He wants us to argue... the right way. He wants us to wrestle with the Word together. And today, we wrestle with the “Godzilla” of the Bible... Genesis 15. There are a lot of first's in this chapter, and this pastor tells us about some of them. First mentions in the Bible are very important.
Today, we're going to take on one of the Take Me's; the virgin, three-year-old red cow (heifer). And that takes us to Numbers 19, 31, and Deuteronomy 21. And you're probably saying to yourself, How is it that to solve a Genesis 15 problem, I have to go all over the Bible. Well... our pastor tells us, That's just how it works.
But why do you have to “Take Me”? Because if you don't, you're lost.
I should probably stop trying to describe what is being relayed to us in this lecture. Because the more I try, the more people I'll lose.
