It will become obvious to you when you listen to this lecture that the first part of it didn't get recorded. But... as you start listening, you'll quickly figure out that this is not an easy study. And, when you get down to it, neither is any part of God's word. This is Genesis 15. Probably the most important chapter in the Bible, albeit one of the most misunderstood.
Undoubtedly, as you will learn from the previous lecture and the subsequent ones, this is God's answer to Abram's question, “How can I know that I'm saved?” God's answer contains, at least in the King James, this statement: “Take Me...”. I capitalized the ‘Me' to illustrate to you that it is this “Me” you must take to be saved.
So, with that little tidbit in place, we now start the lecture with our pastor giving a description of these animals and birds that God tells Abram about. This is an incredible puzzle, and God lays it out for us to solve. The ‘Life Verse', if you will, of this church is Proverbs 25:2, which says, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.” And you, dear people, are about to find out why we like this verse.
Oh... did you know that God has a sense of humor? Well, yes. Listen and find out about it.
I'll not be giving you any kind of brief description of this lecture, other than to say, if you are a serious student of Scripture, you are in for a treat that will enrich you for the rest of your life. If you're not a student of Scripture, it is our sincere hope that these lectures will inspire you.
May God richly bless you and yours with wisdom and grace as you “search the Scriptures” with us.
