As we start chapter 2 of Galatians, Paul is getting into the history of the conflict over circumcision. We might think that there is little to no value in this passage, yet all of God's word is profitable. So what do we see here that will be of profit to us? We see the first real church wide division over the gospel. We also see the first examples of conflict in the church. Up until this point, the errors that Peter and Paul had dealt with were pretty clear cut. There were widows being missed in the ministry of the church. Then there was Acts 5:1 - Ananias and Sapphira who lied to the Holy Spirit. Yet now as the Gospel spreads to the Gentiles, this issue comes up regarding circumcision and keeping the law of Moses.
