We continued our series on the Five Points of Calvinism... coming to one of the stickier points the extent or scope of the atonement. I toyed with whether to use the reference of "Limited Atonement" or to use what I think is almost more expressive, "Particular Atonement"or "Particular Redemption." That Jesus is the only Mediator is pretty well agreed, that he had to die to satisfy the justice of God is likewise pretty well given. The issue that is hard for some to swallow is that the Suffering and Death of Christ was intended for and limited to the elect... His chosen people. As this was a Sunday sermon some of these questions were dealt with generally, but will hopefully be sufficiently clear and edifying for all.
