The gospel is so simple that a child can understand it. Yet, it is as multifaceted as a brilliantly cut diamond. So many people are in desperate need of good news. Their lives are falling apart; their own sin seems to be ruining the; they cannot find peace in work or family or even in spiritual works like praying or fasting or going to church. Indeed, in our day, many churches have so watered down or confused the good news that it hardly seems like a light burden at all. We need to dig our roots deeply into the fertile ground of Scripture, and drink our full of the water of life giving gospel. And not just the New Testament either. Hebrews 4:2 says, 'We have had good news preached to us, just as they [OT Israelites] also.' Well, Isaiah 35 probably the most pronounced announcement of good news in the first half of the book. Come to rest in a land of flowers. Come to walk on a safe road. Come to see God's Garden. Come to Jesus, the fulfillment of the vision, and you will find rest for your soul.
