After revealing to Nebuchadnezzar the kingdoms that will follow his, Daniel now describes that kingdom that will not be based on his kingdom. The kingdom that is a rock cut out of a mountain without hands. The kingdom that will crush all of the other kingdoms. The one that will grind them to powder and make them like chaff that is carried away so that no trace of them is found. The kingdom that will last forever. The kingdom that will have no successor unlike Nebuchadnezzar's kingdom. Nebuchadnezzar's response is to fall down before Daniel and declare the truth of who God is. God uses that to put the sons of Judah into positions of power in Babylon. It is important for us to remember that Christ's kingdom is not like the kingdoms that came before it. Its establishment is not by the sword of metal, but the sword of the Word. We need to be careful not to adopt worldly means thinking that we are building His kingdom, because His kingdom is not of this world or His servants would fight as the world fights.
