Well, our text this morning tells us that Jesus Christ was perfected through suffering. He became, or learned to become, a merciful and faithful high priest. The writer's overall point in this section is shown by use of a frame that begins and ends the section with the language of suffering: Christ's work was accomplished through suffering. Brothers and sisters, our Lord's magnificent high priestly work cost Him dearly in terms of pain, not just in His death but also in His life of testing.
