We come this morning to a classic passage describing, in yet further detail, how Jesus' priestly ministry far excels the priestly ministry of Aaron. We saw last time that Jesus provides a better cleansing for His people. This time, we see that He is the perfect mediator for the new covenant, and that the new covenant has a strong resemblance to a last will and testament in that it is made effective by a bloody death — just as all of God's covenants have been. The passage contains many truths, but I believe it can be summed up by saying that Jesus mediates the covenant because only He can cleanse us by His death.
