1 Peter 5 | Part 1: It is not enough to do the right thing, we need to do it for the right reasons. Peter is leading elders in his writing by modeling the way they should do. God pays much better than anyone in this world. We should do the right things for the right reasons. If our motivation is to enhance our reputations, than the reasons why we do them will burn up. How do we become willing to do God’s will? We become willing by looking at what Jesus did for us. It is a delight for us to do something for those whom we love. If the reason why we are serving the Lord is because we cannot find anything else to do, that is not good. There are some who seek to get into ministry so that they can fraud people into giving them money. Instead we should be eager to serve. We can all know God personally and desire to serve Him. Elders, are shepherds of the flock and they are to be like Jesus to those whom they serve. God is the One who created hierarchy and the young are to submit / honor those who are older. We are to humble ourselves because God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble, He also will lift us up in do time. God is trust worthy and He cares for us and is not too busy for us.
