1 Peter 5 Part 2: It is hard to resist temptations and without self-control we will not be able to get along in this world. Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit and God gives us the power to say no to those impulses and yes to Jesus. We are not in this situation all alone. If there was not an adversary, Satan, we would still have problems with self-control. Satan is very real and we overcome by being humble and resisting him. This is only done through the power of God. If we are to be successful against this powerful invisible foe, we must humble ourselves and follow the example of Jesus Christ. When we do things God’s way, we will see that the Creator is correct. If we follow Satan’s way, things will not work out. When we follow God’s plan, we can be sure that God will restore us. Jesus has already won the prize for us and we are to follow Him over the finish line.
