We are not to spend our lives trying to avoid suffering. In this world there will be pain and suffering. No matter what course we take, we are all heading for the grave. However, that is not the end. We must focus on what God wants us to do, die daily, pickup our crosses, and follow Jesus. Our focus needs to be what does God thinks about what we are doing. What matters is what He says. We should not worry about what other people think. We when do the right thing, things seem to go better. But even if things do not, we are still to rejoice. When we do rejoice, we will be overjoyed. We all have temptations that we must overcome. What is our attitude when we are made fun of when we follow Jesus? We need to rejoice. In the culture we live in, pagans can get away with things that Christians, (those who follow Jesus Christ) cannot. God disciplines His children and He wants His own to be holy and look like Him. The outcome of those who do not obey the gospel of God is that they will receive God’s wrath. When we find that we are under persecution we are to continue doing good.
