Although Darius the Mede is not a full dictator like Nebuchadnezzar, he is powerful and organized his kingdom through a system of commissioners (overseers) and satraps (governors). Daniel began to stand out as one of those overseers whom God was working through, enhanced by his faithful integrity, which caused his ungodly fellow leaders to desire Daniel's demise. The plan was to convince the king to make up a new law that would trap Daniel and require him to be executed. Daniel found out about the law, chose to obey God rather than men and was discovered being faithful in prayer before Yahweh.
