As Proverbs 2:1-5 was opened (see Part 1), the first four verses of this Proverb contained Solomon's calling out, wooing the young, the naive, to spend precious time searching, seeking out, understanding, knowledge, and wisdom. To receive his words, treasure commands; to store them up. Suggesting that not only the young or naive, but that every Christian has a role, a part, to play in the receiving and accumulating of understanding. In short, there is to be a great, zealous and diligent search for it. Now, in the remainder of this Proverb, the inspired writer speaks of the opposite side of that single coin. While on the one side, the idea is one of diligent, personal pursuit, here on the other side, is a corresponding, an equal, in a sense, a greater truth: the Lord gives wisdom out of His infinite storehouse to all those who seek it, enabling each child of God to walk with the LJC who has secured eternal life. |
