Theme: Followers of Christ must be sure of Christ's return and be prepared for it in their daily living. In vv. 25-26, Jesus describes the signs of His return, and in v. 27,He describes the main event of His return when He comes in a cloud with power and great glory. In v. 28, Jesus tells them what their response as believers should be. In application, we should live with an expectant hope of Christ's return. This passage is followed by the parable of the fig tree in vv. 29-33. Jesus assures His followers that though heaven and earth may pass away, His Words will never pass away. In application, we need to live in confidence in God's Word. We can lift our heads, knowing that what Christ has promised will come true. We can know our redemption is sure, live with expectant hope, and live with confidence in Christ's Word!
