Believers should love God as Father because of the gracious adoption of His children and all the privileges that are ours. In v. 4, we see that God's motivation in predestination was love. In application, we need to embrace the Father's love for us. In v. 5, God's purpose of predestination, adoption, is revealed. In application, we need to utilize the privileges of our adoption. The London Baptist Confession of 1689 gives a wonderful list of these privileges. In v. 6, we see the impetus of God's election which is praise. We need to practice daily praise to God for His grace. According to God's glorious grace, He has chosen us to be predestined, not to be merely rescued, but to be sons and daughters who are privileged, loved, and blessed. We are called to bless God the Father because He has blessed us so very much!
