The message that is being communicated in this parable is one and the same as Christ's words in Matthew 26:41, “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.”
Indeed, through this parable Christ calls His children to be ready for the Second Coming. He calls His children to be faithful with the labor that is entrusted to them. He calls His children to be busy doing the work of His kingdom. Indeed, as the child of God living in this state of sin and misery, we must always be ready for the appearing of our Lord.
