In answer to the disciples, Christ explained that He spoke in parables to both reveal and conceal the truth. He said, “To you [who believe] it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven...” And He also said, “but to them [the non-believer] it has not been granted.” Christ spoke in parables to further the understanding of His children, and yet to further the hardening of the hearts of those who would not believe.
As we begin this series on parables of our Lord I am excited. For as we have gathered, as the children of God to worship and praise our Lord, to preach through the parables will, by God's grace, further our understanding of the nature of the kingdom of God. Thus, our ability to serve Him will also be enhanced.
