Trust in God - totally! Thank you Pastor! You speak from experience of walking the walk of trusting God. Preached with passion and conviction. Ahaz - given an opportunity to trust God. He failed. Hezekiah given an opportunity to trust God. A mix. At some point trusted fully in God. Got a wonderful miracle! At another point trusted in Egypt. God grant us grace to obey the Lord.
Great Sermon! I've been listening to these prophets series since Jonah. They are all excellent but this is by far one of the most important to listen to. The destruction of a nation is tied to the state of the church. The church in North America is deathly ill and we need to repent. Thanks for all these Pastor Greg, and all your hard work to include pdf files.
Great Sermon! A crucial reminder, God dhows our heart to be totaly dead to Him; regardless of our learning ; o r our culture, affluence or deprivation.
By His grace alone do we see Him in His word.

Great Sermon! Totally inspiring! Totally comprehensive, will cause anyone to ask God to search our hearts and help us to set our minds on HIS will. Great examples of how to make the application of living a life of integrity by looking at the life of Job. So much encouragement that God will finish His work in us! Thank you!, deborah
Another Thurston Classic This is another CLASSIC by this brother. A MUCH NEEDED wake-up call to churches and Christians. Thurston's pulpit ministry epitomizes the idea that "The Church's job is not to entertain the goats. It's to feed the sheep". This one will FEED your soul!!
John Calvin Couldn't Have Done Better!!! Pastor Thurston has outdone himself. This FEAST is a continuation of last week's FEAST!! Are there any jobs in Bloomfield so we can move out there and join this church?
John Calvin Couldn't Have Done Better!!! You have NEVER, repeat, NEVER heard, and NEVER WILL hear, a better sermon on the relationship between Doctrine and Love!! John Calvin could not have done better.
Great Sermon! I've listened to several of Pastor Thurston's sermons and every one has been a great encouragement to me. This one, as well as his sermon on prayer, is one I will keep in my queue to listen to repeatedly.
Have you ever been bored with the LORD? This message pierced me clear through. Here are bits of what needs to be applied to my life:
Easter is not about resurrection roses. Easter is not about sunrise services. Easter is not about a feeling good with a "feel good" message that says "you can't keep a good man down!"!! No, Easter is about a God who was horribly offended on account of our sin -- yours and mine. Out of His sovereign love God became man. Christ fulfilled the law on our behalf. Christ died in our place paying a debt that we could not. Christ arose to free us form the power of our sin.
EAGERLY await the second coming of our Lord!
Life is not about your job; your health; your appearance; your kids. It is about contending earnestly for the faith!!!
"Where is His coming? I am bored with the Lord. I am through waiting for Jesus to return!!"
Every time you willfully sin you are saying exactly that! Next time you are stuck in a traffic jam pounding on your car horn remember that you are displaying your hot displeasure with His providence.
The Victory is His and ours, this is no time to jump in a foxhole.
'Righteousness' IS transferable!! Here are my notes from hearing this sermon -- it was exegeting Phil 3:9 and the humbling understanding that all are "righteousness" is filthy rags in our Lord's sight, BUT the righteousness of Christ is given to His elect, as we wear the robes if His righteousness, by His blood.
And the fact that His righteousness is transferred to slime such as we is because, and ONLY because of Christ!
Since we have entrusted our soul salvation to the Lord is He not big enough to guard our temporal possessions? Our jobs, finances, health, etc.??
2TIM 1:12 "I know Whom I have believed"
WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES CHRIST'S RIGHTEOUSNESS MEAN ON MONDAY MORNING? What difference does it make on Tues. night when you find out your son was in a severely debilitating car crash? What difference does it make to you on Fri. afternoon when you are handed a pink slip at work after 20 years of service to that company???
The answer is "it makes EVERY difference"! That Christ's righteousness -- the greatest blessing -- is yours by grace, then so also must be the lesser blessings of the Lord (i.e. care, love, provisions, protection, nuture, and giudance).
Rom 8:31 "what shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"
AMEN!!!!
INTERACT with your LORD! What I got from this message is that Christ is not a button to be pushed when we want a blessing -- but He is a being to be interacted with, to walk and talk with just as if He were your sibling, or spouse!!! We are to have an undying passion for this relationship to grow and blossom. There is no such thing as "microwave Christianity"!!!
"The power of His resurrection" does not connote a "name it and claim it " heresy, it is not about speaking in tongue's -- they have ceased! To quote Pastor Thurston "resurrection power references the moral breach with sin that Christ's resurreaction effected on behalf of the child of God."
We are to be radical's in our striving to be free from sin. We are not to make it our passion to not sin very much -- on the contrary we are to make it our passion to NOT SIN AT ALL!
How to seek the Lord when in pain! This sermon focused on Phil 3:10c "[to knwo] the fellowship of His sufferings". I always equated that verse with us somehow ruminating over the crucifixion, but this sermon set the record straight -- it is for us to suffer with everyday difficulties we face as sinner's on this sin cursed earth, and to remember the world hates Christ, so it will without a doubt hate us.
We are not to just endure trials, but as good servants we are to EMBRACE trails, not that we are to invite adversity into our life, or seek it out. But if when the Lord consents to us being sifted as wheat, or if the Lord Himself ordains the suffering, either way we are to embrace, endure, and be confident that He is doing it all for His glory, and to perfect us.
The other point that Pastor Thurston brought out here was the Daniel 3:24-25 portion. Did Abednego, Meshach, and Shadrach even know that Christ was there in the midst of the fire with them? The scriptures seem to imply that they did not visibly see Him - just as in all our trials He is right there with us!!!
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
