Church discipline is not practiced very often today because we are ignorant of God's intolerance of festering sin in His church. Like the Corinthians, we are proud of our tolerance and the fact that we don't judge. All the while the leaven grows and spreads throughout the church and corrupts it. In Joshua 7, we see that the Israelites had no power as long as there was sin in the camp. They had to deal with it swiftly if they expected God to be with them and fight for them. It is the same in the church today.
