Both the judgment of the wicked and the marriage of the Lamb are cause for celebration in heaven.
The marriage of the Lamb is to the Church, the bride of Christ. In the Old Testament, Israel was called the bride of Jehovah, God the Father. In the New Testament, the Church is presented as the bride of Christ, God the Son.
The arrangements of the betrothal practiced in biblical times pictures the Church age. The Church is in a binding relationship with Christ today. The terms and arrangements have been made, and the price has been paid. During this period of time the purity of the Church is being tested and established. At the rapture, Christ will come for His bride as fits the pattern of the marriage. Presently Christ is in heaven preparing a place for His bride, the Church.
By means of the sanctification process believers are being made ready and will be appropriately clothed at the Bema. The clothing will be the righteous acts that have been rewarded bearing testimony that our deeds follow us to heaven giving us a glimpse of how much what we do now matters! The rewards will reflect faithfulness to the commitment of the betrothal.
This all sets the stage for the wedding feast which will take place on the earth during the Millennium. Those invited who are outside the church will be the Old Testament saints, the tribulation martyrs, and the remnant of Israel who are saved.
