Included in God's gift of eternal life are all the provisions necessary to live a holy and godly life.
These provisions include peace with God, grace as power and enablement, and hope that is in confident anticipation and expectation of glorification. This hope continues to rejoice even in the times of pain, suffering, and trials. The believer can rest assured the Lord will sustain through the trial and they serve a good purpose as preparation for glory.
Bearing up under the pressure of suffering develops perseverance that serves to further develop character that will stand the proof test of trials. As testing develops this character a superior hope is being produced that doesn't fail or get disappointed because it is guaranteed by God and His love for us.
God's grace doesn't keep us from the hard times but it does sustain us through it. That being the case, for the believer hard times is always good times.
