The historical account in this chapter unfolds a situtation where we the sovereignty of God working in and through His people. Sin and wicked intentions do not thwart what is His will, from being accomplished.
Gideon has gone to his grave not knowing the consequences that will come upon his sons from his multiple wives. It becomes evident that great spiritual decay has settled over the nation by their passivity when Gideon's sons are murdered. Also coming into play is the demonic activity going on behind the scenes inciting wicked people to act upon the evil in their hearts, and yet not beyond the sovereign control and authority of God.
Conclusions from this study include: 1) Disobedience to God leads to increasing wickedness and corruption. 2) Failure to discipline sin among God's people is a sign of spiritual decay. 3) Failure to discipline sin leads to increasing sin and corruption. 4) All creation is under God's sovereign authority - even the demons. 5) The demons are used by God to bring about judgment and discipline. 6) God has made complete provision for us in our spiritual conflict. 7) God will judge the wicked.
