The 'warning sections' in the book of Hebrews are opportunities for us to reflect, to take spiritual inventory, to test the mettle of our faith. Are we 'possessing' believers, or merely 'professing' ones? After detailing that Jesus Christ is God's final word to mankind in Hebrews 1, the writer in Hebrews 2 opens with the command that we hear and heed what He has to say, lest we drift away. We are in danger of drifting away from the truth into error. Many today are de-constructing their faith, abandoning what they once believed to be true. In doing so, they will face grave consequences. For the message we have received has been confirmed first by Jesus, then the Apostles, and finally by God the Father Himself! We have today a sure word from God that we had better hear and heed!
