God's plan is not just to declare us righteous so that we can spend eternity in His presence. But it is indeed to make us righteous so that we might live holy, righteous, and Godly lives here on this earth. The closing part of chapter seven leaves you almost with a sense of futility. I'm battling, I'm battling, I'm battling, sometimes it seems I'm winning sometimes it seems I'm losing. The flesh asserts itself, I do battle and it's a constant struggle. Where's the Holy Spirit? As we look into chapter eight, we realize that He is there enabling us to live in victory in the conflict that was developed in chapter seven. But it's important that believers don't think that they kick off their shoes, prop up their feet, set back and let the Holy Spirit do battle. We don't let go and let God. In chapter seven it's made clear we personally are involved in a draining intense ongoing daily battle with sin as believers, but there is victory and that victory is brought by the Holy Spirit.
