When you study just chapter 6 of Romans, you might get the idea that when you trust in Christ, you die to sin, you're set free from sin, you now live a life of righteousness and godliness. But as a believer that just is not our experience. There is a battle and a struggle with sin that goes on. It seems that sin wants to assert its control in my life. He's talking about the law and our relationship with the law in chapter 7. That becomes the framework in which he discusses the issue of the believer's struggle with sin.
