This morning we will continue our study of the gospel of John, an apostle of Jesus Christ. Once again, we find ourselves in the temple at Jerusalem where Jesus has been teaching during the Feast of Booths, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles.
It is harvest time, and the feast of seven days reminds the Jewish people of God's provision while they were wandering for forty years in the wilderness after God caused them to be released from slavery in Egypt. The feast usually lasted seven days, but every seventh year the feast is extended to eight days.
This seems to be the case when Jesus attended, since John mentioned in chapter 7:37 that the day before was the last day, the great day of the feast.
