Theme: The resurrection of Jesus was a verifiable, bodily resurrection and should instill assurance in Christians' lives. In vv. 36-37, Jesus appears to the disciples. He greets them with "Peace to you." Though they had fear at this time, Jesus wanted them to be assured and to have peace. In application, we need to find peace through Christ. In vv. 38-43, Jesus gives assurance to the disciples by allowing them to touch His hands and feet, and He eats food in their presence to assure them that He has truly risen from the dead. In application, we need to dispel doubts and fear with truth and also to find assurance in Christ's resurrection. In conclusion, Jesus's resurrection gave His disciples the assurance that the mission they were called to do was indeed worth it. We have the same assurance to follow Christ with our lives. Jesus is indeed alive. To follow Christ means to give up ourselves for Christ. To live as a pilgrim in this world is worth it!
