Here we have a Psalm exalting Jesus Christ. He who came in the flesh, the Son of Man, and yet the Son of God, the Lord of Lords and the King of kings.
We learn that this King rules over everything. We are reminded that the earth is the Lord's and all its fullness. it is to He who will come in judgment that we all will have to give account.
What kind of people are His? Who indeed is able to ascend the "Hill of the Lord"? Why, the truth is that none of us in our unsaved, unregenerate state will be able to stand in "His Holy Place" - namely Heaven itself. When the qualifications include having "clean hands" and a "pure heart" none of us will get in. There is one however who hath done all things well. He it was who mixed compassion with holiness, and through His death on the cross, paying, in our place, sin's penalty, has made it possible that our sins can be forgiven.
Clothed then with the righteousness of Christ, it having been imputed unto us, we are then able to ascend the Hill of the Lord, with Heaven as our goal.
What is the nature of this King? He is the King of Glory - full of justice, goodness, love, mercy and righteous judgement. He is strong, mighty in battle and victorious over sin, having vanquished death and the grave.
He then is truly an awesome King - are you at peace with Him?
