"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:23-24). It is not what we have done or can do that saves us, but it is what Christ has already done, on our behalf, that saves us. In ourselves, we are justifiably condemned; through faith in Christ, we are redeemed and justified as a child of God.
