How to Die Well William Perkins (1558-1602) William Perkins was pastor of St. Andrew's Church in Cambridge, living his entire life during the happy reign of Elizabeth I. He sought Protestant reform from within the Church of England, instead of separation from it. He maintained cordial relationships with his nonconforming brethren, and was himself eventually called to trial for preaching a sermon against kneeling to receive communion. What follows is an excerpt from A Salve for a Sick Man, which was recently reprinted by Puritan Publications. It teaches the Christian how to prepare himself to live in a godly manner during times of sickness and at the approach of death. "The day of death is better than the day that one is born." Ecclesiastes 7:1

One more thought among many... Seemingly the world is in an uproar or Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? Psalm 2:1. We who are the LORD's people; who are Born Again of Christ's Spirit are not to fear or fret or run to and fro like lost sheep. Stay in The Scriptures and draw Strength and Faith, and Wait upon the LORD Psalm 37.(Ps.16:5; Ps.18:39).
How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. Psalm 139:17,18.As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. Psalm 17:15. Corinthians 15:55-57 (KJV)
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
