"'Whoever has the Son, has life.' Do you have the Son this morning? I mean the true and living Christ of Scripture – not the Christ of National Geographic, the History Channel, or Wikipedia. Not the Christ of your own private spirituality but the Christ of God's testimony in Scripture. Last July a Gallup poll found that 1 in 3 Americans claim to be 'spiritual' but not 'religious.' So a third of this country claims to have some sort of connection with God or whatever their concept of 'the divine' is. In a similar study released last December, the Pew Research Group found that 44% of American adults say they feel a deep sense of spiritual peace and well-being at least once or twice a month. That's all well and good but it doesn't really matter how calm you feel when you commune with whoever or whatever your 'higher-power' is because John says very clearly 'whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.' Friends there is just no way around Jesus Christ."
