MATTHEW 2 Summary: (1-2) Wise men from the east, guided by a star, come to Jerusalem, inquiring for "him who was born king of the Jews." (3-8) Herod becomes worried and learns that by an old prophecy that Christ should be born in Bethlehem, and sends the wise men there. (9-12) The star guides them to Jesus, whom they honour and worship. Then God warns them, so they return home another way. (13-15) God guides Joseph to take Mary and the child Jesus into Egypt. (16-18) Herod murders the children in and around Bethlehem. (19-23) After Herod dies, Joseph returns from Egypt with his young family and dwells in Nazareth.
