GENESIS 2 Summary: God establishes the weekly sabbath. (1-3) The details of creation, including vegetation and man given. (4-7) The planting and the location of the garden of Eden. (8-14) Man is placed in it, and allowed to eat of the fruit, with only one tree not allowed. (15-17) The animals are named by Adam; and the account of how the woman was created is given, with the creation institution of the first marriage. (18-25)
Devotional: (1) Does God's rest on the Sabbath has to do with Him being tired or well-pleased with His Work? (2) Can you see a connection between God finishing the act of creation and Jesus finishing the work of our redemption in the weekly sabbath, both in the Old Testament and the New Testament? (3) Even though your body was made from the earth, are you caring more for the things of the earth, your body or for your soul's future? (4) Are you waiting for the right person that the Lord will bring into your life as a future spouse or are you trying in your own strength? (5) Are you thankful for the family God has given you? In what ways?
