Where there is a decline in the knowledge of God, virtues are lost. Self-interest, a rise in sexual license, the lowering of standards of morality, an increase in self-gratification, produce a society riddled with anxieties, and one which stimulates lust.
Abstinence as far as our sexual appetites are concerned is good for you. The most intimate of unions between a man and a woman can only be right in that life-long covenant of marriage. The Bible says that we should possess 'our vessel' in sanctification and honour, and honour which respects other people, especially the one to whom we are joined. One thing which we need to remember, which is good advice, is that where there are moments of madness there is always a cost, a cost which can lead to disappointment. Decisions made today are vital as far as our futures are concerned.
Purity, is the will of God. We are, as Christians, called to holiness. Where 'feelings' develop for a person of the opposite sex, do not hate yourself for that. Be students of your heart, avoid temptations, be discerning, prayerful, pray for God's strength, consider what God is calling you to do. Above all else, make God number one in your life, and heed His call in the pusuit of purity. |
