Theme: As God was faithful to Abram in His covenant to him, He remains faithful to us in the New Covenant through Christ. In vv. 1-6, the LORD gives Abram a sign, and when he believes God, it was counted to him as righteousness. In application, we need to see that Jesus is our perfect righteousness, and we need to look to Him continuously for our security. In vv. 7-16, The LORD's covenant promise is given. This covenant was one-sided--God would be the One to keep it. In response to His great promise, we need to seek holiness and godliness in our lives. Through God's promise to Abraham, all the world would be blessed. We are partakers of the new and better covenant through Christ. We celebrate that Jesus came the first time, and yet we wait with the faith of Simeon and Anna that our Lord will come yet again! |
