American culture has not been the same since the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade ruling in 1973. Since that time abortion on demand has been the law of the land, and well over 50 million abortions have been performed. That is, the lives of over 50 million babies have been terminated, which means that they have been brutally murdered. Those are incredibly alarming statistics for a nation that was founded upon a Judeo-Christian ethic. Although there is some evidence that the tide is turning, and that there is growing sentiment toward a Pro-life position, we are still a long way form reversing abortion laws in the USA. And we can never reverse the tragedy that has already occurred. I have one single emphasis in this sermon, and that is to open up the Scriptures, allowing them to speak for themselves as they address this issue. There is no particular verse that says, “You shall not have an abortion!” And, there is no particular verse that states explicitly that human life begins at conception. But we can know the mind of the Lord on this issue through what the Scriptures do have to say. May the Lord be pleased to truly bless His word to our hearts!
