VI. The Vision of the Flying Scroll 5:1-4
This is the purifying of the people of God. 1 Peter 4:17 – It is time for judgment to begin at the house of God. And if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who obey not the gospel of God?
This vision, in symbolic form, is the re-instatement of the Moral Law in the land. Stealing is the 8th commandment. Swearing is the 3rd commandment.
The vision has to do with covenant-breaking. Leviticus 19:11-12 The language is such that Zechariah's hearers would understand -- Ezra 6:11
VII. The Woman in the Basket 5:5-11
The removal of this basket is good news for the community. Here, God removes the covenant-breakers from the land.
This would not be fully fulfilled until the New Covenant Jeremiah 31:31-34
