Paul's discussion of the resurrection of the dead and of Jesus Christ comes about because he needed to correct some false teaching. He is writing as a reminder to people who knew the facts, not to offer proof for the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Paul began the chapter by recounting to them the facts of the gospel that he had preached, and they had professed to believe. That being the case, he then challenges them with the question of why they would listen to a teacher who was denying the resurrection. The resurrection being the evidence that Christ's death on the cross paid the penalty for our sin.
In verses 8-11 Paul gives his personal eyewitness account of the resurrected Christ, the basis of it and the life-changing impact it had on his life.
