Paul has elaborated on the resurrection of Christ by the testimony of His appearances to various eyewitnesses who saw His physical body that had been raised from the dead.
In clarifying the false teaching spreading in the church at Corinth in regard to Christ's resurrection, Paul took an instructive approach. He reasons with his readers pointing out that if they are believing in a Christ who has not died for their sin and been bodily raised from the dead then they are believing a lie, and therefore have a worthless faith. He isn't questioning the strength or devotion of their faith, but the object of their faith.
It is the object of faith not the independent fact of faith that results in salvation. The only object of saving faith that will result in salvation is Jesus Christ. Genuine faith responds to the gospel facts that reveals the truth about sin, self and salvation.
