Job greatly afflicted by Satan with the permission of God. Three friends come to comfort Job, in chapters 9 and 10 Job answers Bildad that he has not sinned. God has treated him unfairly and he wished he was dead.
Zophar starts questioning Job in chapter 11. Eliphaz has already questioned him The rude and insensitive Zophar agrees with the other two friends that Job has sin in his life, and he is not coming clean about it. Until Job admits his sin, God won't relieve his suffering. This adds to frustration of Job. Job does not know of any sin in his life, and that sin could have only happened in his youth. The three friends have good theology interwoven into bad theology. They misapply their theology to Job. Job defends his character against their attacks. Job attacks the pride of the three friends. He points out that wicked often prosper. His friends have a health and wealth theology. Job recognizes the sovereignty of God. We don't know the pattern of God's behavior.
