The failure of the Jews to be faithful in their relationship to God did not, and does not, nullify the unconditional promises He made to them. The apostle Paul was especially burdened for his kinsmen because most were under God's condemnation having rejected Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He carried this burden for them even though they were persecuting him because of his faith in Christ and that persecution was an additional hardship in his ministry to the Gentiles.
In this section Paul elaborates on nine blessings of the Jews, their being the unique and special people in God's program of salvation for all mankind. He is building the case of how special Israel is in the sight of God, in spite of themselves.
Today Israel is under God's judgment because of their rejection of their Messiah. This will continue for a fixed and finite time until God resumes His program of their salvation.
