The requirement for God's people is that they be merciful. We need to trust in God's mercy till that mercy be formed in us. 1. Our God is merciful What is God's mercy? God's kindness to those in misery. How can God's mercy be described? It is sovereign (freely bestowed). It is infinite (no limits). It is fresh (new every morning). It is everlasting (doesn't stop). What Scriptures say about God's mercy? Rom 9:23, Titus 3:5, Ephesians 2:4-5, 1 Peter 1:3, Hebrews 8:12 When is the time for God's mercy? Now! God's mercy will not be shown to those who die without it. 2. Christ is merciful - He was merciful in his minstry to a woman's daughter vexed by a devil (Matthew 15:22) to a man's son (Matthew 17:15) to two blind men (Matthew 20:34) - He was merciful on the cross Greatest mercy was to bear ours sins in his own body - He continues to be merciful (Hebrews 4:14-16) 3. Believers ought to be merciful Receive it. Show it. God gives you more of it.
