Theme: The factual resurrection of the Lord Jesus is His exalted victory and is life changing for those who have faith in Him.
In vv. 1-3, the women go to the tomb, and in vv. 4-8 the angels deliver the message. While the women had been told by Christ that He would rise from the dead, they hadn't really understood or believed. In application, we need to be careful to listen to the Word of Christ. In vv. 9-12, the women share the resurrection news. With this eyewitness account of the events following Jesus' resurrection, we should appreciate the simplicity and depth of the death and resurrection and know that the Christian faith is a true and living faith! If you don't know the risen Savior, turn to him today and believe. As He had new life, so He will give it to you. And dear Christian, if you know Christ, are you living in His resurrection power? Are you seriously listening to His word? Are you, like the women, sharing the good news of His resurrection with anyone? May the Lord grant us grace to grow closer to Him and walk with our resurrected Savior for His glory.
