We know something of the hope to which we (as Christians) have been called. But we don't really KNOW it anywhere near the degree to which we could. To some degree we know the glorious inheritance that God has in His saints, but we really don't know it like we could and should. To some degree, we know the exceeding greatness of God's power toward us. We see it in the scripture and we believe those things happened. We see it in the creation and we believe God created everything. We've seen it in our own conversion. But in truth, we don't really grasp the power of God anywhere near to the degree we could and should. But we can't grasp any of these things without God's help and enlightenment. That's why Paul prays that God enlighten us.
