Hebrews 11 is about living by faith. But as the three verses before us this morning highlight, the chapter is also about dying by faith. Abraham's descendants — Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph — were men of faith. The writer shows this by highlighting key moments of faith in each man's life. And for both Jacob and Joseph, the most prominent act of faith came while they were dying. The point is that the patriarchs walked in faith and blessed in faith and worshiped in faith, and they did so right up to the end. They teach us what faith is and what faith does — what it can do because of who it's in.
