Theme: Certain conditions must be met to be a follower of Christ, or you cannot be His disciple. In vv. 25-26, we see that followers of Christ must be allegiant to Christ above all. In vv. 27-32, Jesus teaches that His followers must bear their cross and follow Him. In v. 33, we see that followers of Jesus must count everything as loss for Christ. In vv. 34-35, Jesus gives a heartfelt warning. In application, we must not lose our devotion for Him. In summary, what do you love most in this world? To love Christ more than family, comfort, and possessions is what you must be prepared for as His disciple. You may lose your family, possessions, and suffer, but if you have Christ, you have everything. |
