Theme: The Lord is a seeking God who rejoices when His people repent, and His disciples should aspire to seek and rejoice as well. In vv. 1-2, Jesus offends again by spending time with tax collectors and sinners. Like Jesus, we need to be intentional to meet non-believers. In vv. 3-7 Jesus gives the parable of the seeking shepherd. In application, we see that we are to be persistent in our witness for Christ. In vv. 8-10, Jesus gives the parable of the joyful woman. As there is rejoicing in Heaven over one sinner who repents, we also are to be joyful in Kingdom growth! Our God is a seeking God. He uses us to proclaim His glorious truths about redemption. He invites the church to partake in the joy.
